Gentle Birth Choices – Features a variety of births in homes and birthing centers, both in water and on land. One birth is a VBAC. One is with older children present. Births are interlaced with interviews of gentle and natural birth advocates.

Birth Day – Features a home waterbirth in Mexico . The mother is a midwife herself and this is her third child. She provides wonderful narration in the short film.

Birth As We Know It – Features a variety of births in homes, birthing centers, and birthing camps. Most are waterbirths. One is a twin birth. A few are born into the sea. The births are interlaced with dialogue on the “conscious birth” movement.

Relaxation, Rhythm, Ritual: The 3 Rs of Childbirth – Features short segments from 10 hospital labors and births with little narration or music. The first 4 segments are of women in early labor, the next 13 of women in active labor, and the last 6 of women pushing and giving birth. The benefit from having no music played over these scenes is that you can hear how women cope during natural births.

Born in the USA – Filmed documentary-style, this video includes segments from births at home, in birthing centers, and in hospital. There are interviews with obstetricians, certified nurse midwives, and certified professional midwives. Includes a discussion of the safety and features of birthing in different places.

Business of Being Born – Features information, labors, births, interviews, and candid discussions of maternity care in the United States . There is an obvious bias towards midwifery and homebirthing, but the points are valid and persuasive.
